Slasher (2016): I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes, but after that it got a little stale. I hope next week's finale will be as good as the premiere. Maybe it's the whole "moving into a house with a history" concept, but something about this season reminds me of the first season of American Horror Story though not as well developed. Still, I like the series' concept and am already looking forward to seeing what happens next season with a new story and new cast.
Hush (2016): I went cabin camping this year for the first time in a few years. The place was deserted and had recently been scarred by a tornado. It was quiet, it was somber and there was this duck that wouldn't leave us alone. Ever since I've been watching movies with a cabins in the woods theme. Maybe because of that, I've been counting the days until I could watch Hush on Netflix. Usually anticipation is a risk, but I enjoyed this movie as much as I thought I would. The setting (while perhaps not technically a cabin in the woods) was perfect, the story was well executed (minus one obvious set up early on) and the casting was wonderful. The lead actress, Kate Siegel, was on point working nicely within the limits of her situation. It was good to see Michael Trucco again... I like that dude even after it became obvious that the writers of Battlestar Galactica had no idea what to do with Anders. But the belle of the ball was John Gallagher Jr as the Man. Holy smokes. It looked like that guy was having lot of fun and he was so much fun to watch. If he's anywhere near this good in 10 Cloverfield Lane, I'll be a fan. A little bonus, here's my top five non-Hush Cabin in the Woods movies:
Bob's Burgers / Archer: I love H. Jon Benjamin.

5. Friday the 13th (all): man vs boogeyman
4. Evil Dead (all): man vs an army of darkness
3. The Twilight Zone's Invaders: man vs cute little aliens
2. Cabin in the Woods: man vs everything vs the greatness that is Bradley Whitford
Bob's Burgers / Archer: I love H. Jon Benjamin.
