This is a 2Do list for 2016. A resolution. I'll watch at least 2 of these a month and add my comments; updating this post as I make my way through the list. Here's the source and here's the titles:
- The Final Girls - I cannot say enough good things about this movie. Was skeptical going in. Horror comedies are hit or miss and self-aware horror satires are exhausted, but this movie reminds me why the sub-genres got popular. It's funny and sincere. Great performances throughout. This movie hit every intended mark. I want to get the DVD and I've got a spot for it on the shelf right behind Tucker & Dale vs Evil. I would avoid the trailer though... it gives away too much. -01/05/16
- Condemned - Movie Math: (Cabin Fever - pancakes) + (REC - cliche origins) * Troma = Condemned. One day someone in this movie (maybe the director, writer or one of the stars) will go on to do something great. When that happens, this movie will be worth watching so that you can see where they came from. In the right context it might even be a better movie because of everything going on around it. Until that day comes, you should avoid this flick. -01/08/16
- The Green Inferno - Alright, I didn't make it through the first meal. It might be a great movie but I couldn't make it happen. I apologize. -01/08/16
- The Visit -
- The Voices
- It Follows - I loved it. I already talked about it here.
- Backcountry
- The Sand
- The Harvest
- A Christmas horror story
- Crimson peak
- Bone Tomahawk - This was a nice surprise. I love Kurt Russell and he carries the movie very, very well. The whole cast was solid, but Richard Jenkins stole the show from everyone. I love that guy. I had no idea.
- Lumberjack man
- We are still here
- Goodnight mommy
- Lost after dark
Also listed:
- I spit on your grave 3
- Unfriended
- Scouts guide to the apocalypse
- Maggie
- Time lapse
- Insidious chapter 3
- Burying the Ex - I really wanted to like this movie. Ashley Greene was great... Holy smokes. She nailed the role and was a delight to watch. But the story wasn't told very well. I feel like they got distracted trying to be cool and the movie suffered as a result. It actually fell apart as a result. Odd Thomas was better.
- Final girl
- Cooties
- Knock Knock - Absolutely hated this movie. Great performance by Keanu, but the rest of it was flat and predictable.
- Victor Frankenstein
Note that this is a great list but my list would've included What We Do In The Shadows.
